Welcome to Mountain Manners Dog Training!

Hello and welcome to Mountain Manners Dog Training! I am Pacé Schneid, a relationship-based dog trainer out of Seattle, Washington. Mountain Manners relationship-based training focuses on fun, team building exercises to deepen your bond with your dog. Relationship-based training is less “training” and more teaching you how to better communicate with your dog so that you can guide them through new or difficult situations. By joining your dog in their world, you can build trust and help guide them to navigate ours.

I work with a wide range of unwanted dog behaviors including over-excitement, reactivity (human and dog), general anxiety, separation anxiety, recall, resource-guarding, jumping, leash manners, and multi-dog household issues. Feel free to reach out about whatever unique situation that you are struggling with your dog.

During a Mountain Manners dog training session you can expect to learn skills such as:

  • Understand what your dog is communicating and feeling through awareness of canine body language and behavior

  • Build confidence – both yours and your dog’s – through tackling new experiences together

  • Discover what is fun for both you and your dog to do together

  • Set boundaries and create new expectations for your dog with clear and calm directions

  • Guide your dog through stressful situations

  • Develop relaxation exercises that show your dog they are safe in exciting environments

Understanding how dogs perceive the world and how they communicate with each other empowers us to use knowledge of behavior to jump into dialogue with them. Just like human relationships, the more positive and self-fulfilled our dogs feel with us, the more likely they will want to cooperate with us. Healthy relationships rely on positive reinforcement, presence of mind, respect, clear boundaries, and mutual engagement. Our canine companions have coevolved so effectively with us, in part because they rely on similar family bonding dynamics to keep their packs strong and healthy.
